Signicat has been working with digital identity and signing solutions since 2007. We help our clients adhere to and benefit from regulations such as GDPR, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Anti-Terrorist legislation and regulations. In cooperation with Signicat, Academic Work is now looking for an ambitious developer that wants to innovate and develop identity solutions to major players in the banking, finance, insurance, and eCommerce markets.
At our office in Trondheim, Norway, you will join a dedicated environment focused on feedback and development. Here you will be building features from start to finish, working on the backend to build plugins, APIs, and microservices that are part of the Signicat platform. You will be using third-party SDKs and APIs along with your own skills and contributions in order to build applications that enable a range of identity and signature-related features.
Which technologies will you be working with?
- You must know how to write clean and secure Java code
- JUnit, Cucumber and Gatling scripts to be more confident that your code works as expected, and for helping QA with input to the automated test suites
- Some knowledge of, or interest in, MySQL, Puppet, Terraform, Consul, Docker and AWS is great but not a requirement
Signicat is looking for both experienced and newly graduated candidates for our team. No matter what your background is, you will have to be a quick learner. You also need to be good at, and interested in, demonstrating and explaining what you've created, because here you will work in teams to secure progress and innovation. There will be a steep learning curve, but if you have the ambition and drive to grow, you will succeed!
What can Signicat offer?
Signicat is a company in growth, with high ambitions and many opportunities. We value quality in our work and we have many glowing customer references that acknowledge this:

Hannu Heliö, Santander
At Signicat, you will work in a modern location in the heart of beautiful Trondheim. Here, you will find a relaxed work environment. No dress code, no business cards (unless you really want one). You will become part of a passionate development team within an international company which is growing fast across Europe. The organization is flat and informal, and the job comes with lots of freedom and an equal amount of responsibility and accountability. If you want, there will be travel and other international opportunities for you.
What are the job tasks and responsibilities?
You will be part of Signicats team that makes integrations with a huge variety of identity providers, such as BankID in Norway and Sweden, NemID in Denmark, TUPAS in Finland, and iDIN in the Netherlands. You will also write code that integrates with a variety of lookup services around the world, and design great APIs for both internal and external use.
- Other tasks could be:
- Diving into the depths of advanced electronic signatures (QES, QTSA, PAdES)
- Making our Signature flow front-end work flawlessly on all kinds of devices
- Mobile App development
- Platform development, with responsibility for deployment architecture, provisioning, billing, logging, surveillance, monitoring, and security
- Performance and security test automation
But who is Signicat looking for?
As a person, you are not afraid of participating in discussions, and you challenge existing technologies and work methods. You speak your mind, but you also have strong cooperative skills. You work well with other people, and react in a responsive and attentive manner to others' opinions. You take responsibility for the common result, and you do what it takes for the organization to achieve its goals.
In addition to relevant education, it is important that you have a strong interest in programming. You can be a recent graduate, but in that case it is preferable that you have relevant experience from volunteering or summer jobs.
To summarize. You have
- Higher education qualifications in a relevant field (informatics, data technology, programming, etc.)
- Strong skills in Java
- Experience with Linux
- A great interest in developing, and you stay up to date on languages, frameworks, and platforms
- Strong communication skills in English, and its a plus if you can also communicate well in a Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish)
- Start date: August 2019 or sooner
In addition to your resume and application, we would like you to attach your diploma including your grades and a link to your GitHub-account.
