Job description

Our Digital Grid Operation team based in Arnhem is looking for talented Senior Consultants to play a leading part in advising our customers on the topic of digital transformation of system operation, including topics like Advanced DMS, IT/OT integration, real-time Data Exchanges and Data Management, and Grid Analytics.

Within our department, you will be able to help drive the digital transformation that our customers are facing respective to their operational technology (OT) solutions. Based on your affinity with the (electrical) utility industry you will deliver excellent and concrete results for our customers. This may include aspects like defining information architectures and data models, improving data quality and data management but may also consist of delivering a prototype of a data analytics use case. It can also include requirement management related to next generation applications that run in the core grid operations of a power utility like ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management Systems), MDMS (Meter Data Management), GIS and DERMS (Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems) and real-time data exchange architectures.

Key Tasks

Together with our team of experts you will be providing our customers in the energy sector with the following types of consultancy services in grid operations and working with and contributing to the DNV NextGen GridOps Knowledge framework:

  • Roadmap studies & Strategies
  • Proof of concepts & Requirement Specifications
  • Data exchanges, management and modelling,
  • Proof of concepts, pilot and prototype development
  • Supplier selection and Tendering support
  • Project & Testing Management & Support
  • QA reviews
  • Providing Training and workshop facilitation

You will be working in a client-facing environment, either as part of a project team or individually. You will also take part in business development and sales activities, aiming to generate assignments for yourself and other members of our team. You will identify market opportunities and develop our existing services in the NEMEA market and establish new opportunities for our company. The work will be carried out in national and international project teams in collaboration with both DNV and clients’ experts and consultants.

Position Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in computer science, business IT and/or electrical engineering or equivalent qualification, combined with several years of relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge/experience with data modelling, data management and data analytics.
  • Project management experience
  • Fluent command of English in writing and in speech
  • Willingness to travel in business
  • Willingness to work in the hybrid working mode, working from home up to 50% of the time

In addition, it would help if you have experience in at some of the following areas:

  • Knowledge and experience related to power utility processes like system operation, smart metering, substation automation and/or utility telecommunication
  • The Common Information Model (IEC 61970), a standardized data model for power utilities
  • Hands on expertise with data analytics tools like Python or R and with ecosystems like Microsoft Azure, Hadoop, GE Predix or OSIsoft PI.
  • Experience with procurement procedures of technical systems
  • Experience in outlining, writing, and delivering service proposals, whether in response to utility client requests (e.g., RFPs) or through unsolicited business development activity

In addition to the above, we are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills, a commercial drive, a flexible attitude and perseverance. For our international projects, you will need to travel abroad (about 30% and depending on COVID situation) carried out in national and international project teams in collaboration with both DNV and clients’ experts and consultants.
