Principal Engineer - Mechanical

Aibel's skilled employees are located close to our customers at the company's eight offices in Norway and South East Asia. In addition, we operate two modern yards in Haugesund (Norway) and Laem Chabang (Thailand) with complete prefabrication and construction capabilities.
At our office in Stavanger, we are approximately 300 project engineers with high technical competence. As a Principal Engineer in Aibel, you will work professional independently within a multidiscipline environment. You will take part in small and large maintenance- and modification projects, or studies. You will work closely together with colleagues from your own discipline and other disciplines, and follow up vendors and deliver good solutions for our customers.

Your responsibilities:

  • Report to Engineering Manager on work progress and actual or envisaged critical activities, which might have an effect on overall execution
  • Define, budget, schedule, execute and co-ordinate all activities within own areas of responsibility
  • Ensure that all deliverables are completed on time, in accordance with the project schedules
  • Define and request required resources within discipline group
  • Ensure HSE activities within area of responsibility are carried out
  • Give input to overall Scope Alignment document
  • Participate in system and/or 3D model reviews and HAZOP's as required
  • Establish, implement and maintain procedures and work instructions required by the discipline work groups
  • Ensure that vendor information required to progress the work are identified and communicated
  • Report technical status and progress for discipline scope of work
  • Plan, execute and report discipline verification on the work performed in the multidiscipline work groups
  • Establish filing system, including master files
  • Identify external interface requirements and supply timely information to the agreed quality
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a discipline document list for the discipline deliverables
  • Responsible for performing DIC/IDC activities within own discipline and IDC checking for other discipline documents when applicable for the discipline Scope of Work
  • Responsible for co-ordination of resources to the multidiscipline work     

Education and work experience:            

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience from offshore related projects in Norway
  • Experience with major modifications on live platforms  
  • FEED experience
  • Experience with various mechanical studies
  • Discipline Responsible or Discipline Lead for major projects
