Principal Electrical System Engineer

We are looking for a skilled electrical engineer to work in concept and study phase of projects. The candidate will also have opportunity to follow project into FEED and detail phase. Develop solutions for manned and unmanned operated offshore wind High-Voltage substations (HVAC or HVDC) and Oil and Gas topsides. Opportunity to develop his/her skills within complex electrical systems, networks and develop personal skills in a international project-working environment.


Your responsibilities:

  • Responsible for electrical design in the Concept & studies organization
  • Develop conceptual electrical solutions and strategies to the required levels of detail
  • Seek alternatives and challenge established solutions to help development of new cost effective solutions
  • Be the technical reference within electrical design issues with respect to national and international rules, regulations and different standards (e.g. ships, fixed installations, onshore and offshore, wind industry solutions etc.)
  • Participate and contribute in studies by the Concept & studies organization
  • Perform electrical system analyses and assessments 
  • Interface and work with certifying authority as required
  • Support and assist Business Development (BD) within electrical issues as well as marketing
  • Work with topsides on fixed and floating, local & remote operated, normally not manned O&G and HV-substations 


Education and work experience:

  • Master (MSc) in electrical power engineering 
  • 5-10 years of experience in technical development of production systems offshore (new build)
  • Main experience within the electrical system discipline and related aspects
  • Experience with conceptual development
  • Experience with design towards international requirements and norms (e.g. DNVGL, IEC)
  • Experience with high voltage electrical design of on or offshore substations 
  • Hands on knowledge of the electrical equipment is considered an advantage
  • Experience with normally not manned installations is an advantage

  • Be able to work within other industries than Oil and Gas, such as Offshore Wind, Fish farming and other Renewables
  • High level of personal efficiency, ability to sort the work situation and produce deliverables in the form of decisions, recommendations and necessary documentation to close tasks.
